Preparation!

I meant to write this post for a while, but never got the time to do so. We’ve been pretty busy since we got to Maryland. So here it is!

On July 27th, Sam left Quebec for a 12-14 hours drive to work on Rolianne so that she would be ready for us later in August.  The first thing on his list was to have electricity, as Rolianne was on the hard back then, so he started by installing the batteries, solar panel and converter.

The next big thing was to change the oven.  The one that was aboard was a 2 burner gas (CNG) stove, but as CNG is kinda hard to find and that it didn’t have an oven for me to bake stuff ๐Ÿ˜, we decided to get a brand new one. Sam keeps on saying that my bread better be good, as the installation was not an easy thing. Especially when it’s over 90°F outside, and inside the boat. Just like an oven... Still a little bit of finishing to do, but we have a whole year ahead of us.
After that came the kids bedroom. For some reason, the previous owner thought that a blue carpet would be perfect in there. Nope. There was carpet threads everywhere!! So Sam scrapped everything and painted it white. That took him a while again, but it will look way prettier!! With the mattress, the sheets and the storage baskets, it's just perfect.
And finally, he got us a slip for Rolianne for our first month in the water!! This gives us some much needed time to finalize our preparation and get used to our new boat.

After driving back to Lรฉvis on August 9th, closing the house and driving back here all together, Rolianne was renamed and in the water on the 14th!! Woop woop! Since then, we organized everything inside (still working on that, it's like an endless tetris game), installed the AC and the fans (life saver!!!), put the sails up, fixed the waste tank (that was a shitty day, and that was today...). Sam was particularly proud of finding the missing leg of the impeller right before it went in the heat exchanger!! That was a happy moment. ๐Ÿ˜…

All of this work was worth it. Feels like home already...

    1. That'd be super fun. We're planning on leaving Chesapeake Bay only at the end of October, because of the hurricane season, so we should arrive in Florida by the end of November?? We have to be in Miami by December 17th..
