We made it!! First day of driving was way too long for what it was, mostly because there was a huge line to cross the boarder and just to make it worst, it was something like 95F in the car, no AC. Thank you Grand-maman Ginette for the toy fans!!! They saved all of our lives.  Once on US soil, we had to go through "interrogation "  because our story was kinda unusual I guess. 😉 Obviously they believed it because we made to the other side!! Yesterday, the kids got to see the boat for the first time. That was exciting, even for us. We were super happy when Rolianne was launched in the water. AND when the engine started smoothly to get to our slip. 😁 We’re home!!!! We spent the rest of the day sorting things out and finalizing the little modifications that were still to be done on the boat. Same thing for this morning.  Fun fact: On both days, we  had to drop everything we were doing to head to the beach, because it’s freaking hot down here!!!...

Bimini and the Great Bahamas Bank

At first, I didn’t really wanna spend time in Bimini at all. But then again, the winds decided otherwise. We got « stuck » there with 15 knts East winds for 5 days, waiting for our window to cross the Great Bahamas Bank. On our first day at Blue Water marina, we met George, our neighbor, when he invited us to check out the bull sharks at the dock. The next day, we had plenty of time to chat, so we talked about fishing, among other things. Really interesting person, whom we enjoyed talking to during happy hour. He invited us on his boat twice for me to catch my first wahoo or mahi mahi. I guess I was not meant to do so, as we didn’t even get a strike during both of our 5 hours trips out on the water!!! Romain came with me both times, and has been more than patient. Oh well, George was nice enough to give us fresh mahi for two dinners, and perfectly cooked wahoo on another night. Fun times with my mom and sister!!

It has been about 6 months since we left Lévis, and what I miss the most is my people, so having my mom and sister onboard for some time was just awesome for me, and the kids!! It felt so great to finally share with them everything that we’ve learned to love of our boatlife. Even though we didn’t go sailing because, well, I still need Sam for that!, they experienced living on a sailboat just enough. Of course two hours before they arrived, our AC stopped working. That’s what a boat does, right? Something breaks at exactly the wrong time. As it was supposed to be really hot and humid all week, I tried for 1 1/2 hour to fix it, sweating my life in the hole under the cockpit trying to unclogg the tubing, the strainer and the seacock, without any success! I felt blessed when a friend of mine told me that her husband used to work at an AC marine place and that he’d be happy to help the next morning!! It took him 15 minutes and yeah!! AC was back on.
